Finding Balance
Balancing Tips
We have all been there; a busy life with too much to do and not enough time to do it in. How in the world do you juggle the demands of a busy life and still feel fulfilled? The key is finding balance. Balance must exist first within yourself and then within your daily routines and experiences. It comes with practice and dedication. Just like anything else, if you want balance you must intentionally create it in your life. Wanting it is half of the equation. The other half is taking all of the necessary steps that will bring balance into your life. By focusing on yourself physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually, you can begin to uncover what keeps you from having balance in your life and more importantly what you would rather have that will give you the foundation for the kind of life you prefer.
Balance brings you peace, fulfillment and satisfaction, happiness and plenty of time to live your life and pursue your goals. There are several steps that you can take to bring balance into your life. By following and implementing these 7 guidelines, you can begin to change your life now, instead of waiting another day to begin feeling better about yourself and your life.
1. CREATE A VISION
A vision is a mental picture of your future self and experiences. It stretches you past where you currently are and shows you the possibilities of your life. Think of what you would like to have and imagine it with all of your senses. By thinking it, you can see it and if you can see it, it can come to pass.
2. MAKE A PLAN
In order to fulfill your vision, you must have a plan in place. What will it take for your vision to come true? Outline the necessary steps it will take to make your vision become a reality. The steps you take are the steps that will create your new life and the new you.
3. TAKE ACTION
Commit to taking at least one step towards your goal each day. Each action brings you one step closer to your vision, no matter how big or small it may seem.
4. MAKE PERSONAL TIME
Knowing who you are is the center of your vision. Taking time each day to journal, read an inspiring book, meditate or pray will help you relax and go through your day with a little more ease. Focusing on your own healing will eliminate what holds you back from living your life so that you can go through each day consciously and actively designing your life. Personal time should be part of your plan towards your vision.
5. ORGANIZE YOUR TIME
Spending too much time in any area of your life can sometimes make you feel out of balance. Spending time with loved ones and yourself are crucial for support and bonding. By knowing your plan you can decide how much time is necessary for each section of your life.
6. CONTRIBUTE
The basis for the Law of Attraction is the principle of cause and effect. What you give out in thought, action and feeling, you get back multiplied. Find ways to donate some of your time and talents to the community or something you believe in. You can also donate your services to anyone who could benefit or use some extra help. You will feel better about yourself and create a platform for more of what you want to come in to your life.
7. ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNERSHIP
Find someone who you can trust that will hold you accountable in the process of manifesting your vision. Doing something alone is much more difficult than achieving goals with people on your side. Seek out a trusted friend or family member to support you. Hire a coach or mentor and look to people who have achieved what you yourself want to achieve. Having someone hold you accountable with your best interests at heart will help you fill in the gaps that keep you from moving forward and give you someone to celebrate every step of the way.
By implementing each of these steps, you will find that the pieces of your life start to come together. You develop a sense of accomplishment and personal power that comes with knowing that you are actively engaging yourself in your life. This puts you in the position of creating your future and paving a path where your dreams can unfold. Balance is a state of mind that reflects in your affairs. The Seven Steps to Balance will influence every area of your life. By doing them and then experiencing the results, you will find that you have always had what it takes to live the ideal life you want.

New Ballet/Tap Combo Class with Kristen!
For ages 5-7yrs. Starts 10/11!
This class will introduce children ages 5-7 to basic ballet and tap techniques, while awakening a sense of imagination, creativity, and self-expression through movement and music. Basic ballet positions and steps and basic tap rhythms will be introduced, as students get a chance to explore their own ways of moving and discover the creative spirit of dancing while, most importantly, having fun! At the end of the 10 week session, there will be an opportunity for the students to demonstrate their new skills and experience the joy of performing at a showcase for parents, friends, and loved ones, where the emphasis will be on fun and creative expression rather than executing the perfect routine. Ballet shoes and tap shoes are preferred, but if you would like to try the class before purchasing them, students can wear socks or be barefoot for ballet and wear hard-soled shoes for tap. Leotards and tights are great but not required, and any clothing that is comfortable and easy to move in will do.
10 Week Session starts Thursday 10/11 4:00-5:00 PM. $130. Pre-registration recoommended.

Kristen has taught ballet, tap, and gymnastics to children ages 2-7 for the last 2 years, and is working on her masters degree in Dance/Movement Therapy in the summer program at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. |

Guest Bellydance Instructors
For the Month of October
While Heather (on the right) tours around the country for the Month of October, come enjoy a new bellydance experience with our fabulous Guest Instructors, Soy (not pictured) and Oceana (on the left).
Soy Pak began studying ATS bellydance at the Fat Chance BellyDance studio in 2000 after being inspired by a Hahbi'Ru performance. In 2005, she was asked to join the Fat Chance BellyDance troupe, directed by Carolena Nericcio. Very recently (June 2007) she left the troupe and her hometown of San Francisco to move to Los Angeles, bringing with her the foundation and training of ATS as she learned it from its source. What she admires most about ATS is its celebration of the female form in all its wonderful variations and the energy and conversations created between dancers in its improvisational format.
Join Soy on Tuesdays 10/9 and 10/23.
Oceana has been taught by a legend, the amazing Mesmera, who teaches and performs internationally but is based in Los Angeles. With the guidance and support of a true master of the dance, Oceana has become a confident and dynamic performer over the last six years, in the American cabaret, gypsy, and Egyptian styles. Oceana is also a snake dancer in Mesmera's Sacred Serpent Troupe. In an effort to further develop a unique personal style, Oceana has studied some tribal with Heather Shoopman, and Egyptian with Zahra Zuhair in addition to attending various workshops on a regular basis. It is through dance that she is able to communicate that love and respect for all life to her students. Bellydance, of all dance forms has survived for thousands of years not only for entertainment, but because it has a real ability to heal and empower those who seek to explore its many secrets. Oceana invites you to join her in experiencing the life giving dance.
Join Oceana on Tuesdays 10/16 and 10/30.
Heather will be back to teach on Nov. 6th.
